Beans Saute With Garlic

I have not been blogging regularly in the past weeks, a little busy with other things, will try to catch up soon. In the meantime, trying to keep things going here with some posts from draft. Today's recipe is a very simple one with fresh green beans, an easy stir fry in Gujarati style. This dish is extremely flavorful with the  added garlic and goes very well with both rice and rotis, serve it along with some dal ( lentils ) for a complete meal..

Need To Have

  • Green Beans - chopped, 1" pieces, 2 cups
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, chopped
  • Red Chilly Flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste

Method

Boil some water, add the beans to it, leave for about 4 minutes, remove and add immediately to some cold water, then drain and keep.

Heat some oil, add the mustard seeds, when it starts spluttering, add the chopped garlic and saute till it turns golden.

Now add the chilly flakes, beans, sugar and salt, keep cooking on low heat for about 7 to 8 minutes. Add the pepper powder, mix and serve.

Note
You can also use frozen cut beans to make this dish.
The cooked beans should be soft and not crunchy.
